˹This is˺ a sûrah which We have revealed and made ˹its rulings˺ obligatory, and revealed in it clear commandments so that you may be mindful.

[This is] a sūrah which We have sent down and made [that within it] obligatory and revealed therein verses of clear evidence that you might remember.

As for female and male fornicators, give each of them one hundred lashes,1 and do not let pity for them make you lenient in ˹enforcing˺ the law of Allah, if you ˹truly˺ believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a number of believers witness their punishment.

The [unmarried] woman or [unmarried] man found guilty of sexual intercourse1 - lash each one of them with a hundred lashes,2 and do not be taken by pity for them in the religion [i.e., law] of Allah,3 if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers witness their punishment.

A male fornicator would only marry a female fornicator or idolatress. And a female fornicator would only be married to a fornicator or idolater. This is ˹all˺ forbidden to the believers.1

The fornicator does not marry except a [female] fornicator or polytheist, and none marries her except a fornicator1 or a polytheist, and that [i.e., marriage to such persons] has been made unlawful to the believers.

Those who accuse chaste women ˹of adultery˺ and fail to produce four witnesses, give them eighty lashes ˹each˺. And do not ever accept any testimony from them—for they are indeed the rebellious—

And those who accuse chaste women and then do not produce four witnesses - lash them with eighty lashes and do not accept from them testimony ever after. And those are the defiantly disobedient,

except those who repent afterwards and mend their ways, then surely Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Except for those who repent thereafter and reform, for indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
— Saheeh International
And those who accuse their wives ˹of adultery˺ but have no witness except themselves, the accuser must testify,1 swearing four times by Allah that he is telling the truth,

And those who accuse their wives [of adultery] and have no witnesses except themselves - then the witness of one of them1 [shall be] four testimonies [swearing] by Allah that indeed, he is of the truthful.

and a fifth oath that Allah may condemn him if he is lying.

And the fifth [oath will be] that the curse of Allah be upon him if he should be of the liars.
— Saheeh International
For her to be spared the punishment, she must swear four times by Allah that he is telling a lie,

But it will prevent punishment from her if she gives four testimonies [swearing] by Allah that indeed, he is of the liars.

and a fifth oath that Allah may be displeased with her if he is telling the truth.1

And the fifth [oath will be] that the wrath of Allah be upon her if he was of the truthful.

˹You would have suffered,˺ had it not been for Allah’s grace and mercy upon you, and had Allah not been Accepting of Repentance, All-Wise.

And if not for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy...1 and because Allah is Accepting of Repentance and Wise.

Indeed, those who came up with that ˹outrageous˺ slander are a group of you. Do not think this is bad for you. Rather, it is good for you.1 They will be punished, each according to their share of the sin. As for their mastermind,2 he will suffer a tremendous punishment.

Indeed, those who came with falsehood1 are a group among you. Do not think it bad for you; rather, it is good for you. For every person among them is what [punishment] he has earned from the sin, and he who took upon himself the greater portion thereof2 - for him is a great punishment [i.e., Hellfire].
