On that Day ˹some˺ faces will be downcast,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
[Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled,
— Saheeh International
˹totally˺ overburdened, exhausted,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Working [hard] and exhausted.1
— Saheeh International
burning in a scorching Fire,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire.
— Saheeh International
left to drink from a scalding spring.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
They will be given drink from a boiling spring.
— Saheeh International
They will have no food except a foul, thorny shrub,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant
— Saheeh International
neither nourishing nor satisfying hunger.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger.
— Saheeh International
On that Day ˹other˺ faces will be glowing with bliss,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
[Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure.
— Saheeh International
˹fully˺ pleased with their striving,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
With their effort [they are] satisfied
— Saheeh International
in an elevated Garden,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
In an elevated garden,
— Saheeh International
where no idle talk will be heard.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech.1
— Saheeh International
In it will be a running spring,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Within it is a flowing spring.
— Saheeh International
