and the mountains like ˹tufts of˺ wool.

And the mountains will be like wool,1
— Saheeh International
And no close friend will ask ˹about˺ their friends,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend,
— Saheeh International
˹although˺ they will be made to see each other. The wicked will wish to ransom themselves from the punishment of that Day by their children,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
They will be shown each other. The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from the punishment of that Day by his children.
— Saheeh International
their spouses, their siblings,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And his wife and his brother
— Saheeh International
their clan that sheltered them,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And his nearest kindred who shelter him.
— Saheeh International
and everyone on earth altogether, just to save themselves.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him.
— Saheeh International
But no! There will certainly be a raging Flame
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
No!1 Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell],
— Saheeh International
ripping off scalps.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
A remover of exteriors.1
— Saheeh International
It will summon whoever turned their backs ˹on Allah˺ and turned away ˹from the truth˺,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience]
— Saheeh International
and gathered and hoarded ˹wealth˺.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And collected [wealth] and hoarded.
— Saheeh International
Indeed, humankind was created impatient:
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Indeed, mankind was created anxious:
— Saheeh International
