And on the Day the Hour will arrive, the wicked will swear that they did not stay ˹in this world˺ more than an hour. In this way they were always deluded ˹in the world˺.

And the Day the Hour appears the criminals will swear they had remained but an hour. Thus they were deluded.

But those gifted with knowledge and faith will say ˹to them˺, “You did actually stay—as destined by Allah—until the Day of Resurrection. So here is the Day of Resurrection ˹which you denied˺! But you did not know ˹it was true˺.”
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
But those who were given knowledge and faith will say, "You remained the extent of Allah's decree until the Day of Resurrection, and this is the Day of Resurrection, but you did not used to know."1
— Saheeh International
So on that Day the wrongdoers’ excuses will not benefit them, nor will they be allowed to appease ˹their Lord˺.

So that Day, their excuse will not benefit those who wronged, nor will they be asked to appease [Allah].
— Saheeh International
We have certainly set forth every ˹kind of˺ lesson for people in this Quran. And no matter what sign you bring to them ˹O Prophet˺, the disbelievers will definitely say ˹to the believers˺, “You are only a people of falsehood.”
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And We have certainly presented to the people in this Qur’ān from every [kind of] example. But, [O Muḥammad], if you should bring them a sign, the disbelievers will surely say, "You [believers] are but falsifiers."
— Saheeh International
This is how Allah seals the hearts of those unwilling to know ˹the truth˺.

Thus does Allah seal the hearts of those who do not know.1

So be patient, for the promise of Allah certainly is true. And do not be disturbed by those who have no sure faith.

So be patient. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And let them not disquiet you who are not certain [in faith].
